Summary: My research background find roots in the area of distributed systems design, modeling and performance evaluation. During PhD I concentrated my research on High Performance Web Server systems design and performance evaluation. I had proposed valid mechanisms to design scalable Web Server systems and QoS-aware Web Server systems. I have also proposed workload characterizations an performance models which help, through discrete event simulation, to evaluate the performances of the proposed solutions. After my Ph.D. dissertation, in 2002, I have had the opportunity to apply and to enrich my background working on different research topics, and having many professional experiences. In chronological order, I have first worked on design and performance evaluation of handoff management mechanisms for context and session-oriented mobile services. Then I have worked on design and performance evaluation of heuristic algorithms for resource allocation in GRID systems. Actually Im working on design and performance evaluation of Optimal Service Selection policies in QoS-aware Service Oriented Architectures. I have collaborated with the Telecom Italia research staff to design scalable context aware publish/subscribe systems. Actually Im collaborating with the Netgroup, University of Roma Tor Vergata, on the design of mechanisms and architectures for next generation mobile services. The more exiting field I have applied my backgrounds and in which Im actively working on is Critical Infrastructure Protection and Interdependencies Analysis. Im interested in agent-based modeling and simulation of complex and heterogeneous systems, as a tool for interdependencies analysis and quantification. I have successfully proposed a methodology to use agents to model critical infrastructure interdependencies, and I have proposed a framework for Federated Agent-based modeling and simulation.
